The first Les Saberton Memorial Cricket Match took place on Sunday 29th April 2007.

Mr Saberton, from Witcham, died at the age of 45 after a heart attack in February, and two of his former clubs, Witcham and Doddington, played a friendly match in his name.

Mr Saberton's brother Ian and nephews, Carl and Marc, featured in the Witcham side that finished 235 all out, with Chris Houghton (60) and Lloyd Few (31 not out) their top scorers, and Doddington bowler Matthew Bamford taking four wickets for 66 runs.

Doddington won the match with four balls to spare, reaching 237-9. James Harradine was the star of the innings with 141 not out, and Few was Witcham's best bowler with four wickets for 25 runs
